OLEAN — The spring of Samantha Gilbert continued this weekend.

The Falconer/Cassadaga Valley junior won another four titles against the best competition around.

And some of her events weren’t even all that close.

Gilbert won the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump and triple jump to highlight the girls action at the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Championships at Olean Middle School.

Gilbert beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Lauren Eaton by .21 seconds in the 100 meters and by .22 seconds in the 200 meters before topping Salamanca’s Mushirah Sheppard by 9 inches in the long jump and Southwestern’s Cassidy Allen by 2 feet, 4.5 inches in the triple jump.

The Wolfpack foursome of Anneke White, Mackenzie Gratto, Kylee Odell and Natalie Carris took first place in 10:01.48 while the Trojans’ foursome of Carissa Minarovich, Breah Orlando, Katja Kranzo and Hannah Sullivan took second in 10:02.11, in the process breaking a school record that stood for 33 years. Back in 1986, Holly Spencer, Tina Heidorn, Theresa Stevens and Cesca Lyons ran a 10:08.2.

Hannah Lillie was a double winner for the Trojans, taking first in the 3,000 meters (11:26.95) and 2,000-meter steeplechase (8:14.12) while teammate Gianna Hoose captured the discus crown with a throw of 108 feet, 7 inches to help Southwestern win the Division 1 team title for the seventh straight season with 224 points on the weekend.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s Kylie Schnars won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.19 seconds while the Wolfpack’s 1,600-meter relay team of Karianne Yuchnitz, Carris, Cydney Amoroso and Gratto took first with a time of 4:16.52 to lead their team to the Division 3 crown with 188 points.
