Silver Creek Knocks Off Southwestern

SILVER CREEK — Spencer Harford had an impressive showing on the mound Monday in leading the Silver Creek Black Knights (2-1, 1-1) to a 7-1 victory over Southwestern in Division 1 West baseball.

Harford went 6 1/3 innings while Ethan Brunner closed the deal. The duo combined on a three-hitter, to go along with 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Silver Creek scored three in the second inning and sealed it with three more runs in the sixth frame.

Chris Van Cheri doubled for the winners.

The Trojans’ Nate Johnson went 2 2/3 on the hill, giving up three runs and three hits. Luke Tota went 2 1/3, allowing a hit and a run.

Mitch Pascarella had a triple and scored Southwestern’s lone run.

CARDINALS PREVAIL

RANDOLPH — The host Randolph Cardinals scored five runs in the third inning and wound up with a 6-2 nonleague win over Westfield.

Ashton Bushey got the start on the hill, striking out four in three innings before Mason Pagett took over, collecting three strikeouts in three innings before Tommy Chapman finished the game off in relief for the Cardinals (3-1).

Pagett went 3 for 3 with a double and Wyatt Adams 2 for 2 in the win.

Matt See struck out one in three innings of work for the Wolverines, Brock Schuster fanned three in two innings and Nate Culbreth finished things off on the mound. Mike Johnson was 2 for 4, while Colby Bills was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs for Westfield.

DRAGONS WIN CLOSE ONE

BEMUS POINT — Daren Vaillancourt tossed a two-hitter, struck out six and walked one to lead Maple Grove to a 4-2 victory over Clymer/Sherman in a Division 2 West baseball game.

Caleb Roller smacked the key hit of the game with a two-run double in the sixth inning for the winners (3-1, 2-0). Ayden Reagle added two hits, including a double; Easton Tanner smacked two hits; and Vaillancourt had a double.

Lucas Willink, Michael Beatman and Derek Sears combined on a six-hitter for Clymer/Sherman (1-1, 0-1). Beatman also had a double.

SAVIDGE PITCHES GEM

ELLICOTTVILLE — Behind the pitching of Nick Savidge, Cattaraugus-Little Valley posted a 2-0 victory over Ellicottville in a nonleague game.

Savidge tossed a two-hitter, struck out five and walked three, and was the beneficiary of sacrifice flies by Jason Young and Cody Colton in the sixth inning for the game’s only runs. Kyle Germaine had a double in that inning to help the rally for the winners (2-2).

Lucas Marsh was the starting pitcher for the Eagles (1-4), striking out nine and walking six. Steven Rowland worked the final two innings.
