Lady Trojans Edge T’Wolves In Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Southwestern (4-5) was able to take advantage of walks and hit batter on its way to a 6-4 softball win over Cattaraugus-Little Valley (4-4) at the Grand Strand Classic on Wednesday.

Ashton Beckerink struck out two and walked one in a complete-game performance for the winners, while Katie Brinkley went 2 for 4.

Lexi Mikowicz threw four innings, with two strikeouts and one walk for the Timberwolves before Emma Rupp finished up, recording two strikeouts and issuing four walks. Mackenzie Ryan ripped a triple and a single in the loss.

Southwestern will face Wilson at 8 a.m. today.



FALCONER — Falconer improved to 5-2 on the year with a 2-1 nonleague baseball win over Pine Valley (0-7) on Wednesday.

Ben Schrader pitched 6ª innings, struck out 15, gave up two hits and didn’t allow an earned run. Nate Abbey recorded the final out for the save.

Both of the Golden Falcons’ runs scored on balks. Pine Valley’s Kevin Hunt tossed a two-hitter and struck out 11. Brendan Colvin had an RBI single in the fifth for the Panthers.
