Lady Falcons Trim Cassadaga Valley

FALCONER — Courtnee Peterson and Claudia Russell both homered to back the five-hit pitching of Ashley Pierce as Falconer knocked off Cassadaga Valley, 5-2, in a Division 1 West softball game Monday afternoon.

Pierce struck out three and didn’t issue a walk in helping the Lady Goldens improve to 1-1 in the division and 1-1 overall.

Peterson added a single to go along with her solo blast; and Alex Rivera chipped in a pair of singles. Russell’s round-tripper was a two-run blast.

Hannah Edwards had two hits, including a triple, and Kaylee Pattyson had a solo home run for the Lady Cougars. Brittyn LeBaron scattered six hits, struck out three and walked one in the circle.

TROJANS RALLY

SILVER CREEK — Southwestern scored five runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh to rally past Silver Creek, 9-3, in a Division 1 West game.

Erin Radack led the way for the Lady Trojans (2-1, 2-1) with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs; and Skyler Thorpe added two hits, one a double, and drove in a run. Ashton Beckerink and Sophia Genareo combined on a two-hitter with four strikeouts while not yielding an earned run.

Andrea Olson and Liberty Lawton both had a single for Silver Creek.

BEARS FALL TO GATORS

ALLEGANY — Kayley Dennis and Morgan King combined on a seven-hitter and Karlie Shea tripled and scored the winning run in the fifth inning to send Allegany-Limestone to a 4-3 nonleague victory over Frewsburg.

MaKena Adams took the loss despite striking out 10, allowing four hits and not issuing a walk. She also helped her own cause with a pair of doubles. Teammate Elise Sposato chipped in two singles for the Bears (4-1).

Allegany-Limestone improves to 1-2.

FREDONIA

EDGES T’BIRDS

FREDONIA –Laural Erick scored the winning run on a close play at the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Fredonia to a 4-3 victory over Chautauqua Lake in a Division 1 West game.

The rally began with two outs when Grace Mroczka walked and Erick replaced her as a courtesy runner. Sydney Bigelow then singled on a hit and run, and when the throw was wild to third base, Erick raced home and just beat the tag.

Maddy Marsh tossed a complete game, scattered six hits and struck out four for the Hillbillies (2-0). She helped her own cause with a double. Kazlin Beers also doubled for the winners.

Olivia Anderson suffered the loss for the Thunderbirds (1-1), allowing five hits and striking out five. Kendra Keyser led the offense with a pair of hits.

NORDIN HURLS SHUTOUT

BEMUS POINT — Maple Grove was a 9-0 winner over visiting Clymer in CCAA Division 2 West softball.

Lynne Nordin earned the win in the circle, striking out six batters and giving up three hits with no walks for the Red Dragons.

Trinidy Stacy took the loss for Clymer in a one-strikeout, five-walk afternoon.

Clare Crossley cracked a pair of singles with two RBIs in the win while Tessa Warner banged out a three-run homer as the Red Dragons finished with six hits.

MANSFIELD MASTERFUL

RANDOLPH — Abby Mansfield tossed a three-hitter and Mya Abrams added three hits, including a double, as Randolph downed Westfield, 11-0, in a nonleague game.

Mansfield struck out four and didn’t issue a walk, while being backed offensively by Kyra Pence (double) with two hits and Maisie Abrams with a two-bagger.

The win raised the Lady Cardinals’ record to 4-1. Westfield fell to 0-3.

FARNHAM SHINES

SOUTH DAYTON — In its first game of the season, Pine Valley rallied with six runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 13-9 Division 2 East win over Franklinville (0-2).

Malori Waag was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and five walks.

The Panthers were led by a strong performance by freshman Trista Farnham in her first varsity game. Farnham collected three hits, including a double, scored three runs, stole three bases and finished with three RBIs.

Payton Swanson went 2 for 4 in the win with a pair of RBIs while Lyric Westlund also went 2 for 4.

Ariana Wolfer led the Franklinville offense with two singles.

HORNETS DOWN

PANAMA

FORESTVILLE — Lillee Gould belted a two-run home run to back the complete-game performance by Kaitlyn Alguire as Forestville upended Panama, 11-5 in a Division 2 West game.

Clare Kingsfield (double, RBI) and Phoebe Kingsfield (triple, RBI) both had two hits for the winners (2-1, 2-0). Alguire scattered nine hits, struck out eight and didn’t issue a walk.

Abi Lisciandro and Maci Johnson (two RBIs) both had three hits for Panama in support of Ashlyn Harvey, who struck out 10 and walked one.

JHS FALLS TO OLEAN

Olean scored seven runs in the second inning on its way to a 15-0 victory over Jamestown in a nonleague game.

Cayla Swartz and Milaysha Anderson both had two hits for the Lady Red Raiders (0-3).
