Adams Brilliant Again, Tosses One-Hitter Vs. JHS

Fresh off the heels of a no-hitter on Wednesday, Frewsburg’s MaKena Adams turned in another stellar performance on Thursday at the Martin Road Complex.

Adams led Frewsburg (7-2, 3-0 CCAA 2 East) to a 5-0 shutout win over Jamestown (0-5) in nonleague play, giving up just one hit to the final batter of the game and finishing with 14 strikeouts and three walks.

The junior star also helped her own cause at the plate with a single and three RBIs.

“Coming back from that no-hitter she is continuing to show her strength in the circle,” said Frewsburg coach Jon Blanchard. “She started the year out strong and she is continuing to come in to her own as a leader of the team and a commanding pitcher.”

Ashley Carlson smacked two singles in the win, while Sam Smith added an RBI single.

Lindsey Spitz pitched a complete game for Jamestown, fanning two and walking three.

MAPLE GROVE ROLLS

BEMUS POINT — Maple Grove (5-0) was a 22-0 winner over Sherman (1-4) in Division 2 West action.

The Red Dragons belted out 18 hits to support Lynne Nordin, who struck out four in a two-hit performance in the circle for the winners.

Meghann Nolan smacked three singles and a double with five RBIs; Clare Crossley added three singles and three RBIs, Erin Mansfield had two hits and two RBIs, Elise Swanson smacked two hits, Kelsey Tarbrake had two hits with two RBIs, and Sarah Berg added two hits in the win.

Rowan Fisher fanned two and walked five in a complete-game performance for the Wildcats.

PINE VALLEY PREVAILS

FRANKLINVILLE — Mattison Cadle, Katelyn Miller and Haley Pillard each had a two-run single to highlight Pine Valley’s 11-9 Division 2 East victory over Franklinville.

Tayne Swanick had two hits for the hosts.

Pine Valley improved to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the division.
