Ward Takes Third In Pole Vault At State Meet
STATEN ISLAND — Falconer’s Rachael Ward was the top local finisher at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Ward finished third in the pole vault at a height of 12 feet. The winner was Orchard Park’s Leah Pasqualetti, who reached 13 feet, 3 inches, while Warwick Valley’s Kaeli Thompson cleared 13 feet.
Jamestown’s Francisco Rodriguez finished 19th in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.70 seconds. The winner was Lavonno Mitchell of Albertus Magnus, who finished in 6.40 seconds.
Dunkirk’s Jericha Petrella was 18th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:39.40. Corning’s Lindsey Butler won the event with a time of 1:30.00.
Fredonia’s Emily Brown was 21st in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:59.88. The winner was Katelyn Tuohy of North Rockland with a 4:24.01.
Fredonia’s Diego Rey was 21st in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:39.47. Bronxville’s Matthew Rizzo took first with a time of 2:24.06.
Cassadaga Valley’s Collin Barmore finished 28th in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:59.85. Shea Weilbaker of Saratoga Springs was the winner in 9:04.62.
