Frewsburg/Southwestern Captures Class C Title; Strong Honored For Panama/CL/MG

BUFFALO — Albion and Frewsburg/Southwestern will be sharing the Section VI Class C swimming and diving championship after finishing the day’s races at City Honors High School tied, 286-286.
Panama/Chautauqua Lake/Maple Grove grabbed fourth place with 227 points just behind Springville (236) while Fredonia finished in 12th (71).
Leading Frewsburg/Southwestern on the day were Gannon Moore with a pair of wins and Zach Gifford with one.
Moore claimed the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:12.56, edging out second-place RJ Helt of Panama/Chautauqua Lake/Maple Grove, and also took the 100-yard backstroke in 59.40.
Gifford took home the 500-yard freestyle in 5:11.75.
Panama/Chautauqua Lake/Maple Grove had a big day from Austin Strong, who was named Most Outstanding Swimmer after he took home a pair of individual class titles in the 100-yard freestyle (50.48) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.12). The 200 time was a new school record while both times were pool records at City Honors.
Strong also aided teammates Helt, Eathan Johnson and Elliot Johnson to a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.35).

DEAN WINS AT CLASS A
CLARENCE — Kyle Dean led Jamestown at the Section VI Class A Swimming and Diving Championships at Clarence Central School.
Dean took home an individual title in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.11.
Jamestown was also a winner in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Brennan Roehmholdt, Joseph Roehmholdt, Matthew Roehmholdt and Kyle Dean clocked a time of 1:29.91 to best Kenmore and Lockport.
The Red Raiders took third in the 200-yard medley relay as the team of Brennan Roehmholdt, Joseph Roehmholdt, Matthew Roehmholdt and Kyle Dean clocked a 1:40.19.
Joseph Roehmholdt took home fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.94) while Matthew Roehmholdt was seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (23.27).
