Rebels Lose In Shootout After Last-Minute Goal

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — The Jamestown Rebels gave up a tying goal to Ryan Naumovski in the final minute of play and went on to suffer a 5-4 shootout loss to the New Jersey Titans in North American Hockey League play Friday.

Jamestown and New Jersey jockeyed back-and-forth leads all night, with the Rebels carrying a 3-2 lead in the second and a 4-3 lead after Alex Frye found his 22nd goal of the year at 14:17 of the third.

The Rebels’ Niki Jasko and Colin Schmidt scored the first two goals of the shootout, but New Jersey followed suit with makes on their first and second shooters before Mitch Machlitt finished off the night with a goal.

Frye ended his night with two goals and an assist, while Connor Linton and Jasko took care of the scoring in the second period for the Rebels.

Eric Olson added two assists in the loss for the Rebels, who are now 21-10-3-2 on the year while New Jersey moved up to 19-17.

The teams will meet again today at 7:30 p.m.
