CANEADEA — Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg’s Rachael Ward matched her own school record with a leap of 11 feet, 6 inches to take first place in the pole vault during season-opening indoor track action at Houghton College on Saturday.

Fredonia/Westfield’s Emily Brown took second in the 3,000 meters (10:55.74); Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Anthony Ruiz was second in the 3,200 meters (10:11.92); Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Jericha Petrella was second in the 600 meters (1:42.08); and Fredonia/Westfield’s Hessen Bahgat tied for second in the high jump (12-0).

Jamestown’s Giovanna Calamunci took third in the 55-meter hurdles (9.34) and teammate Harrison Monfort was third in the 600 meters (1:29.97).

Fredonia/Westfield’s Jack Carlson was fourth in the 1,600 meters (4:42.60); Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Petrella, Sierra Jacques, Julia Kennedy and Juliana Flick were fourth in the 3,200-meter relay (11:09.31); Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg’s Rayven Sample, Dylan Davis, Connor Hudson and Collin Barmore were fourth in the 3,200-meter relay (9:11.31); and Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Devin Eddy was fourth in the long jump (19-8.5).

Barmore was fifth in the 1,600 meters (4:45.26) and teammate Claire Johnson tied for fifth in the pole vault (7-0).

Sample was sixth in the 600 meters (1:31.01); Flick was sixth in the 1,000 meters (3:27.88); and Fredonia/Westfield’s Kelly Lucas tied for sixth in the pole vault (4-6).

Fredonia/Westfield’s Diego Rey was seventh in the 3,200 meters (10:37.97); Jacques was seventh in the 1,500 meters (5:26.44); Petrella was seventh in the 300-meter dash (44.01); Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Nelson Rosario was seventh in the 300-meter dash (38.78); and Sample, Barmore, Cervonte Thomas and David Allen were seventh in the 1,600-meter relay (3:59.33).

Fredonia/Westfield’s Ashlyn Ambrose was eighth in the 1,000 meters (3:29.59); Jamestown’s Slaughter, Calamunci, Quentasia Leeper and Promyss Williams were eighth in the 800-meter relay (1:58.99); Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg’s Zach Heberlein tied for eighth in the long jump (18-7); and Jamestown’s Sara Beebe tied for eighth in the pole vault (6-0).

Jamestown’s Regan Nordwall, Korryne Capizzi, Zoe White and Anna Burt were ninth in the 1,600-meter relay (4:51.45) while 10th-place finishes went to Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg’s Elsa Gruber in the 55-meter hurdles (10.31), Slaughter in the 55-meter dash (7.82), Davis in the 1,600 meters (4:53.92), Brown in the 300-meter dash (45.16), Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg’s Macey Arnone, Rylee Gore, Tabitha Clark and Marie Lemay in the 3,200-meter relay (11:50.36), teammate Devin Austin in the high jump (5-2), Calamunci in the triple jump (32-4) and Dunkirk/Silver Creek’s Sophia Stalica in the shot put (28-8.75).
