ATHENS, Pa. — “Anytime you can go into Pennsylvania and win a tournament, that’s a good weekend.”

That was the comment of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley wrestling coach Drew Wilcox after the Golden Falcons claimed three individual titles on their way to the team crown at the Jarvis Wildcat Memorial Tournament on Saturday.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley finished with 231.5 points, followed by State College, Pa. (190), James Coughlin, Pa. (179.5), Athens, Pa. (147.5) and Scranton, Pa. (144.5) to round out the top five.

The three individual champs for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley were Braden Newman (106 pounds), Jimmy Kramer (138) and Nick Seager (145).

Placing third were Evan Phanco (152), Bryce Baglia (160), Brock Johnson (170), Hudson Johnson (195) and Collin Beichner (285), while Joey Pillittieri (126) and Mac Mikula (152) finished fourth.

STARPOINT DUALS

LOCKPORT — Maple Grove went 1-3-1 at the Starpoint Duals.

The Red Dragons defeated Ken West 48-35, tied Williamsville South 42-42; lost a close match to Roy-Hart/Barker, 38-39; lost to Starpoint, 58-22; and then fell to champion Niagara Falls, 50-32.

Going undefeated for the Red Dragons were freshman Luke Tomlinson at 120 pounds, and junior Jake Tomlinson at 182. Luke pinned all five of his opponents and Jake had four pins and a forfeit. Going 4-1 for Maple Grove were Luke Baer (106), Taige Jones (145) and Alex Duncanson (220). Finishing 3-2 for Maple Grove was eighth-grader Maddie Wadsworth, seventh-grader Matt Trim (113) and junior Kyle Trim (195).

TOURNAMENT

PORTVILLE — Jamestown competed in the Portville Invitational on Saturday and had six wrestlers win place finishes.

Taylor Crofoot placed fifth at 113 pounds after going 2-2. At 138 Jomar Medero Montanez went 3-2 placing fourth, while Dwayne Hannold placed third. With a record of 4-1, at 182, Ben Schrader placed fifth after finishing at 2-2.

At 285, Michael Houghton placed fifth with a 2-2 record and Xavier Williams took third at 285 with a 3-1 record. The Red Raiders took sixth overall as a team.

PIONEER TOURNAMENT

YORKSHIRE — On the second day of the Pioneer Panther Duals, the Fredonia Hillbillies picked up one team win, 43-37, over Newfane.

The host Panthers were 42-33 winners over Fredonia, while the Hillbillies battled Palmyra Macedon to a 42-42 tied and fell to Hilton, 64-12.
