Austin Gets National Recognition
Jamestown CC Outside Hitter Named Honorable-Mention All-American
The Jamestown Community College volleyball team’s season ended about a month ago with a seventh-place finish at the NJCAA Division III Tournament.
The honors haven’t stopped yet, however, for the Jayhawks.
Kendyl Austin, a sophomore outside hitter, has been named an honorable-mention All-American, in an announcement made earlier this week.
The Jamestown native led Jamestown CC in kills (414) and points (501), and was second in digs (261), helping the Jayhawks to a 28-4 record. In addition, she was named NJCAA Region 3 Division III Player of the Year, and was a member of the Western New York Athletic Conference first team.
Jamestown CC is coached by Ashley Lund.
Joining Austin on the honorable-mention All-American squad are Mackenzie Craig, Butler County, Pa.; Bridget Crimi, Northampton, Pa.; Alexis Hattaway, Brookhaven, Texas; Andrea Hinkeldey, Minnesota West; Carley Mekash, Northland, Minn.; Georgia Payne, Columbus State, Ohio; and Rachel Simmons, Finger Lakes (N.Y.).
