Four-Goal First Helps Rebels Top Black Bears

A four-goal first period helped the Jamestown Rebels jump on the Maryland Black Bears early Friday evening en route to a 7-1 North American Hockey League victory.

Niki Jasko scored his third goal of the season from Nick Stuckless and Alex Roy; Augustine Moore scored his sixth from Lewis Crosby and Sam Anzai; Alex Fry scored his 11th of the season unassisted while shorthanded; and Antonio Venuto scored his fourth of the year from Noah Finstrom and Connor Linton in the opening 20 minutes for the Rebels.

In the second period, Stuckless scored his fifth from Caleb Price and Jim Glynn on the power play before the Black Bears broke up the shutout as Quinn Warmuth scored his third of the year from Matteo Menotti and Lukas Ljungblom. Finstrom gave Jamestown its five-goal lead back when he tallied his fifth from Seth Bergeron and Frye.

Frye added his 12th of the season in the third period from Moore and Glynn to close out the scoring.

Ryan Keane stopped 27 of 28 Black Bears’ shots to earn the win between the pipes for the Rebels.

David Tomeo stopped 28 of 35 shots for Maryland in a game that featured 84 penalty minutes. The Black Bears were 1 for 6 on the power play while the Rebels were 1 for 8.

The same teams will face off again tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Northwest Arena.
