Last Saturday, the Chautauqua Lake junior varsity volleyball team competed in the Olean Volleybash at St. Bonaventure University, losing to Olean 13-25, 21-25 in pool play. Chautauqua Lake topped Forestville and Portville, 25-17, 25-20, before topping unbeaten Allegany in semifinal play. In the finals, the Thunderbirds were down 12-6 in the first set, but were able to battle their way back with help from some strong serving by Brynn Engdahl before winning 34-32, 27-25. It was the fifth tournament the Chautauqua Lake jayvees have won this season.
