JHS Swim Team Places Ninth At ECIC Meet
CLARENCE — The Jamestown girls swimming and diving team took home ninth place overall at the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 Championships on Saturday night.
Allie Stockwell finished in a tie for first place in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing at a New York State Public High School Athletic Association qualifying time of 24.30 along with Grace Van Buren of Amherst.
Stockwell also took home second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.57, just behind Kya Pawli of Frontier, hitting the sectional qualifying mark.
The relay teams of Natalie Reinhardt qualified for the Class A meet in that race after hitting a mark of 1:11.8.
Jamestown had a pair of season-best relay times, as Grace Osborne, Sarah Russo, Stockwell and Anna Burt finished the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.23.
Osborne, Russo, Stockwell and Lindsey Spitz clocked a 3:57.14 in the 400-yard freestyle for another sectional qualifying time.
Spitz also hit a class qualifying time in the 200-yard freestyle with a clocking of 2:17.96, hit the sectional mark in the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.85) and solidified a trip to the sectional meet in 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.78)
Rheese Maggio took fifth in the 1-meter dive for the Red Raiders with 339.6 points at Maryvale on Wednesday.
In addition to her strong showing in the relays, Osborne will also make a visit to the sectional meet in the 100-yard butterfly after her finish in 1:05.36.
