Jamestown Jayvees Finish Season With 8-0 Record

The Jamestown High School junior varsity football team rolled up 450 yards in total offense on their way to defeating West Seneca West, 52-22, on Thursday night at Strider Field to finish its season unbeaten.

The Red Raiders (8-0) were led by Demarri Jones and Jaylen Butera, who combined for 265 yards rushing. Jones carried the seven times for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 37-yard pass reception from quarterback Trey Drake. Butera added 128 yards on 10 carries and three TDs; Simeon Leeper had a 22-yard scoring burst; and Drake completed three passes for 86 yards.

Cal Ricker led the defensive effort for the Red Raiders, recording 11 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Leeper added 10 tackles and Ayden Bonta (interception) and Markell Carter both had eight tackles.

RED RAIDERS VARSITY TO PLAY NINTH GAME

The Jamestown varsity football team will play a ninth game later this week.

The Red Raiders, who lost last Friday at West Seneca West in the Section VI Class A quarterfinals to end their playoff hopes, will travel to Williamsville South for a 6:30 p.m. “matchup” game this Thursday.

Jamestown (4-4) is an A-1 school. The Billies (3-4) are an A-3 school.
