Frewsburg Relay Breaks 22-Year-Old Record

FREWSBURG — The 200-meter relay team broke a 22-year-old record and in the process helped Frewsburg/Falconer to a 106-79 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association swimming & diving victory over Olean/Portville/Franklinville on Thursday evening.

Dani Gray, Kaylee Constantino, Kiah Johnson and Madison Kramer swam the 200-meter freestyle relay in 1:58.21 to break the previous record of 1:58.96 set by Carly Swensen, Lindsay Swensen, Anna Lee and Joslyn Swanson.

Kramer was a double-winner for the Bears (4-0), taking first in the 200-meter individual medley (2:43.89) and 100-meter butterfly (1:16.39).

Frewsburg/Falconer took first place in all three relays while also sweeping the top three spots in the 100-meter butterfly.

Christine Pagett was a double-winner for the Huskies (4-1), capturing the top spot in the 50-meter freestyle (29.01) and 100-meter backstroke (1:13.51).

PANAMA — Carrying a four-point lead into the final event, Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville/Brocton took first and third place in the 400-yard freestyle relay to hold off Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove, 98-87.

Jenna Sherlock, Mackenzie Quinn, Abby Roth and Tori Spacciapolli won the relay with a time of 4:09.27 for the visitors.

Spacciapolli was the lone double-winner for Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville/Brocton, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.13) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.97).

Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville/Brocton swept the top three spots in the 200-yard individual medley.

Karianne Yuchnitz was a double-winner for Panama/Clymer/Maple Grove, capturing the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (25.20) and 100-yard butterfly (1:06.70).

SALAMANCA — Grace Bukowski and Amelia Brown were both double-winners to help Chautauqua Lake/Westfield past Salamanca, 120-51.

Bukowski won the 200-yard freestyle (2:37.73) and 500-yard freestyle (6:20.0) while Brown captured first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:43.21) and 100-yard freestyle (1:04.49).

Mushirah Sheppard was a double-winner for the Warriors, taking the 50-yard freestyle (28.55) and 1-meter diving (206.17).
