WNY STATE TOURNAMENT

CAL RIPKEN 11-YEAR-OLDS

Jamestown got off to a quick start in the Western New York Cal Ripken 11-year-old Tournament on Thursday night, downing Lakeview, 9-1, at Bergman Park.

Winning pitcher Antoine Rodriguez hurled 5.1 innings, gave up two hits, struck out three and walked three. Ayden Hagelin recorded the final two outs in relief, setting up Jamestown’s game at 7:30 tonight against North Tonawanda.

Mike Patric led the offense with a hit and a sacrifice fly. Conner Degnan, Hagelin and Anthony Rodriguez Jr. also had hits for the winners.

After tonight’s game, Jamestown returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against North Buffalo.

CITY REC BASEBALL

The Affinity One Federal Credit Union Blue Jays defeated the Astros, 12-8, in a semifinal playoff game.

Cole Joly and Spencer Kindberg led the way with three hits, including a double, while teammate Aiden Senear added a pair of doubles.

Quincy Pace (double) and Jericho Thaggard (double) both had three hits and Donovan Carraher (two doubles, triple) had four hits for the Astros.

The Blue Jays will meet the Rockies at 6 p.m. today at Nordstrom Field.
