Maple Grove Sweeps Doubleheader
FALCONER — Maple Grove swept a doubleheader from Falconer, 10-5, and 7-6, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West action Tuesday.
The Red Dragons scored seven runs in the first inning, highlighted by doubles by Taylor Samuelson and Elise Swanson in the 10-7 victory. Swanson finished with two hits and three RBIs. Lynne Nordin allowed two hits in 3 1/3 innings for the win.
Olivia Adam and Lauren Snyder each had two hits for the Golden Falcons while Courtnee Peterson struck out seven in a complete-game effort.
In the 7-6 win, Maple Grove scored two runs in the seventh inning to rally from a 6-5 deficit. Samuelson reached on an error and scored while Swanson also reached on an error and scored the winning run on Kaylee McCall’s RBI single.
Meghann Nolan had three hits, including a double; Sammy Davis had two hits, including a double; and McCall and Tessa Warner each had two hits.
Alex Rivera had three hits, including a pair of triples, while Lauren Snyder had two hits for Falconer.
HORNETS BLANK PIRATES
CLYMER — Forestville had no trouble on the road against Clymer, rolling to a 13-0 Division 2 West win over the Pirates behind a four-hit, five-strikeout, two-walk performance in the circle from Kaitlyn Alguire.
Phoebe Kingsfield was 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs; Mackenzie Press was 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs; and Clare Kingsfield went 2 for 3 with three runs scored for the Hornets (9-3, 7-1).
Nashia Duryee struck out two and walked four in six innings for the Pirates (0-8, 0-7), while Erica Gustafson finished things off with one strikeout and two hits allowed in the seventh.
