Lady Cougars Wrap Up Division 2 West

FORESTVILLE — Cassadaga Valley is now a perfect 10-0 on the year and has wrapped up the Division 2 West title following a 10-3 win over host Forestville (9-4, 7-2) in nine innings.

Things were all knotted up at 3-3 after three innings of play as Holly Crandall ripped a two-RBI double for the Cougars in the first, while Forestville responded with RBI singles from Kaitlyn Alguire and Cece Egan in the second inning.

In the end it was a two-RBI triple in the ninth from pitcher Brittyn LeBaron that opened up the floodgates for the winners, with Savannah Nickerson adding an RBI double.

LeBaron finished her day with six strikeouts, while going 2 for 5 at the plate. Also for Cassadaga Valley, Allissa Morey was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI, Mikayla Rearick was 2 for 5 with a double and Madison Rothleder was 2 for 4 with a double.

Brooke Ostrye struck out eight and walked four for Forestville, while Alison Mierzwa went 2 for 4 with a double.

PANTHERS EDGE

BROCTON

PANAMA — Panama (6-4, 5-4) was able to sneak out a 2-1 win over visiting Brocton in a Division 2 West softball game on Wednesday afternoon, thanks to a pair of errors and a pair of passed balls in the third inning.

Ashlyn Harvey fanned eight, walked one and scattered five hits for the winners, while Elle Angeletti cracked a single during Senior Appreciation Night.

Megan Gloss struck out five and walked one in a two-hit performance in the circle for Brocton, which scored its lone run in the sixth inning following errors.

Jenelle Grigelevich had a double and Julianna Smith two singles in the loss.

NOLAN LEADS WAY

Using a triple from Meghann Nolan in the top of the sixth, Maple Grove (5-5) was able to pick up a 6-5 Division 1 West win over host Southwestern.

Lynne Nordin struck out eight in the circle for the winners.

The Lady Trojans (3-9, 3-8) had Ashton Beckerink fan one and walk two in five innings of work while Sofia Genareo struck out one and walked one in relief.

Taylor Samuelson went 2 for 3, Nolan was 2 for 4, Madigan Howard was 2 for 3 and Allyssa Seeley smacked a double for the winners.

Katie Brinkley was 3 for 4 in the loss with a double and two RBIs, Jade Derby had a triple with two RBIs, Erin Radack was 2 for 4 with two singles and Genareo had a solo home run.

FALCONER PREVAILS

SILVER CREEK — Falconer was a 10-5 winner over Silver Creek (4-10, 3-7), thanks to an 11-hit attack.

Lauren Snyder led the winners by going 3 for 4 with a double, Courtnee Peterson was 2 for 4 with two RBIs while Ashley Pierce tossed a complete game with five strikeouts and four walks.

Julia Hill struck out nine and walked one for Silver Creek, and went 3 for 4 with two doubles while Andrea Olsen added a triple, and Tessa Douglas cracked and RBI double.

LADY PIRATES WIN PAIR

CLYMER– On senior night the host Pirates (2-8, 2-7) claimed a pair of wins over Sherman (0-10, 0-9) in Division 2 West action.

In the first game, Clymer posted a 10-3 victory as Erica Gustafson struck out five and walked one in a complete-game performance.

Sam Griffin was 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Nashia Duryee was 2 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI and Sydney Beal went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.

Amaya Lewczyk went 1 for 3 with a triple for Sherman. She drove in two runs and also struck out two and walked one in the circle.

In the second game, the hosts posted a 10-6 win as Duryee led the seniors by going 2 for 3 with a triple, and an inside-the-park homer and five RBIs.

Beal went 2 for 3 with an RBI while Gustafson struck out three and walked one.

Rater finished her day going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for Sherman. She also fanned two and walked three, while Gabby Carris cracked a double in defeat.

RAIDERS LOSE PAIR

Jamestown (1-8) lost a pair of Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 games at the Martin Road Complex as Lancaster picked up wins of 3-0 in Game 1 and 22-2 in Game 2.

Jenna Patterson pitched until an injury in the third inning for the winners in the opener, while Jenna Bork finished things off.

Sam Moll went 2 for 4 and Jenna Patterson 1 for 2 while Olivia Kincanon hit a triple.

Morgan Brightman went 2 for 3 with a double in that contest while Taylor Brightman was 2 for 3 with a triple.

In Game 2, Morgan Brightman had a double and Olivia Gates had a triple with an RBI for Jamestown.

PORTVILLE DOWNS

CARDINALS

RANDOLPH — Portville (14-1, 8-1) had the bats going in Division 1 East action, posting a 14-9 win over host Randolph (4-11, 2-6) as Haley Unverdorben allowed just three hits in the circle.

Piper Slocum and Kara Howard both cracked three hits in the win, while Mia Hlasnick added two hits.

Nikki Lockwood, Raven Waterhouse, Savannah Rhodes and Kira Lewis all had a pair of hits for Randolph, with Lockwood and Waterhouse both hitting doubles.

Brynn Pagett had a three-run home run in the loss.

ADAMS SHOWS THE WAY

ELLICOTTVILLE — Frewsburg (4-8, 4-5) posted a 10-2 win over Ellicottville in Division 2 East play, as MaKena Adams scattered three hits, walked one and struck out a career-high 14 strikeouts.

Adams was also belted a grand slam in the second inning to put the Bears up 5-1.

Peyton Yost had three hits and scored two runs, while Sam Smith and Allyssa Deering each had a single and a double for the winners.

Evie Cortez had a single and Halie Mowery a double in defeat.
