Red Raiders Claim Third Place In Mingo Bay Classic
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — An eight-run second inning propelled Jamestown to a 12-9 victory over Independence, West Virginia and a third-place finish in the Mingo Bay Baseball Classic on Saturday.
After Independence scored three runs in the first inning, the Red Raiders (4-1) bounced back with a big inning and held the lead the rest of way to give Matt Hill the win with relief help from Christian Dolce.
Dolce began the second inning with a double followed by Jayden Schultz’s RBI single. After an error, Hill smacked a two-run single.
But there was more.
Other highlights from that outburst were RBI singles by Bryce Jackson, Peyton Olson, and Dolce.
Jamestown added two runs in the fifth inning when Chris Beardsley stole home and Drew Boggs had an RBI single.
In the seventh, the Red Raiders scored their final two runs on an Olson double, a Boggs’ RBI single and a Dolce RBI double.
Dolce and Beardsley each delivered three hits while two hits went to Hill, Jackson, Olson, Boggs and Schultz.
