Orchard Park Shines At Dunkirk Invite

DUNKIRK — Orchard Park won both the boys and girls team titles at the Dunkirk Invitational on Friday afternoon.

The Quakers boys team scored 131 points, led by first-place finishes by Robertino Mancabelli in the 110-meter hurdles (16.04) and 400-meter hurdles (59.32) as well as Cal Puskar in the 1,600 meters (4:18.95) and 800 meters (2:01.92). Caden Jensen won the shot put (43-11™) and discus (133-7) while Kegan Mancabelli captured the pole vault (11-6).

On the girls side, the Quakers won with 121 points, buoyed by Jenna Crean’s win in the 400 meters (58.42), Rachael Major’s win in the 3,000 meters (11:00.49), Sarak Puskar’s win in the long jump (16-2) and Genevieve Arnold’s win in the triple jump (32-5¢). Orchard Park’s 400-meter relay team of Puskar, Faith Hanlon, Katelynn Hennessy and Kameron Klass also won in 51.42 seconds.

Dunkirk’s girls were the highest-scoring local team, taking sixth with 45 points behind wins by Emilee Hanlon in the 200 meters (26.99) and high jump (5-0).

Jamestown’s boys were the highest-scoring local team, taking fifth with 65.5 points. The Red Raiders’ 400-meter relay team of Francisco Rodriguez, Nathan Hill, Jaiden McKoy and Savon VanSickle won with a time of 45.86 seconds. Grant Moore also captured the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.

Fredonia’s Emily Brown won the 2,000-meter steeplechase (7:26.93), the Hillbillies’ Lydia Lanski claimed the 100-meter hurdles (15.68), Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Rachael Ward won the pole vault (10-6) and Dunkirk’s Devin Eddy won the long jump (20-3).

GATOR RELAYS

ALLEGANY — The host Gators place second in the Allegany-Limestone Gator Relays had the host Gators finish second (61) in the girls race and third in the boys (76), while Portville took seventh for girls (33) and seventh for boys (39), and Randolph claimed ninth for girls (21) and fifth for boys (45).

Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley finished fourth for the girls (56) and ninth for the boys (4)

Randolph’s Matt Evans was victorious in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:42.43, while teammate Ronan McDonald finished fourth with a 4:51.35. Hayly Frederickson claimed the pole vault relay for Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley at a height of 7 feet, 6 inches.
