Northwest Wave Has Successful Weekend

Northwest Wave varsity girls indoor soccer team traveled to Houghton College on March 10 for the annual Indoor Classic and journeyed to Finger Lakes Community College the following day to participate in the FLCC Indoor Classic. At Houghton, the girls defeated Belfast Soccer Club 2-0, Canisteo-Greenwood 1-0, and Albion 1-0 to win their pool, before besting Addison 1-0 and Genesee United 1-0 in the playoffs. Relinquishing only two goals on the day, the girls lost to FC Dynamo II of Rochester 2-0 in the championship. Mary Doell was named to the All-Tournament team. At Finger Lakes, the girls defeated a team of girls from the college 5-1, tied Avoca FC 1-1, and beat Soaring Capital Stormers 6-0 to win their pool. They went on to defeat Addison 3-2 in the semifinal and Avoca FC 4-1 in the final.
