FREDONIA — Fredonia’s Trace MacKenzie rolled the first 300 game in school history, one of three new records the Hillbillies set during their sweep of Southwestern on Monday at Lucky Lanes.

MacKenzie also turned in 245 and 247 games for a 792 series, which set a Fredonia record for high scratch series. The 1,052-1,021-1,051-3,124 by the Hillbillies represented a school record for a match.

“Obviously, (MacKenzie had) one of the best performances I’ve seen, not just from a high school bowler, but from any bowler,” Fredonia boys coach Tom Battaglia said. “He was very calm, very collected. He threw the same exact shot for 30 frames.”

The Fredonia coach added that the crowd at Lucky Lanes was extremely supportive, with many of the spectators for the Dunkirk-Falconer match coming over to cheer on MacKenzie.

“A big congratulations goes out to Trace MacKenzie from the Dunkirk bowling teams and myself on his 300 game and 792 series today,” Dunkirk bowling coach Donna Kubera said. “What a great accomplishment.”

While MacKenzie had the flashiest day, other Fredonia bowlers turned in solid efforts.

Josh Ellman had a 227-214-233-674; Jacob Patterson added a 235 game; Bryson Pacos recorded a 200 game and Jarett Maslak also rolled a 200.

“I’m very excited for our team effort,” Battaglia said. “We’ve had two straight 3,000 series with 11 different bowlers in the lineup.”

Southwestern rolled 731-733-823-2,287. The Trojans were led by Alex Nelson with a 201-547.

In the girls matchup, the Hillbillies rolled games of 710, 664 and 781 for a 2,155 series to Southwestern’s 573-628-633-1,834. Leading Fredonia was Gillian Reed with 210-165-175-541. Chris Anne Mosier added a 179-159 while Savannah Salim rolled a 155 game.

Alexis Berry was the top bowler for Southwestern with a 164-186-499 effort. Morgan Wilson added a 192 game and Sarah Cali recorded a 150.

Fredonia travels to Jamestown on Wednesday.
