Pine Valley Boys Advance To Class D Soccer Final
YORKSHIRE — The Pine Valley boys soccer team received a pair of goals by Dawson Chase and it held on for a 2-1 Section VI Class D semifinal victory over Ellicottville on Saturday.
Brock Ricketts and Dana Jenkins recorded assists for the winners.
Chase had his first goal five minutes in to put Pine Valley up by one, but Ellicottville’s Noah Stuve tied it up in the 38th minute.
“He’s a kid that talent wise is just off the charts,” Pine Valley coach David Pihlblad said of Chase. “This year was a hit or miss and he definitely stepped up this year.”
Pine Valley’s goaltender Makiah Snyder had six saves to secure the win.
No. 6 Lafayette will play Pine Valley for the Class D title at 5 p.m. Friday at Sweet Home High School.
“We saw them play,” Pihlblad said. “I’ve seen them play twice. They will definitely be the best team we’ve played all year. The kids know what we are up against. We are excited.”
