State Archery Championship Is July 29-30

STOCKTON — The Bear Lake Rod & Gun Club is hosting the Archery Shooters Association New York State Federation Championship on July 29-30.

This 3-D archery event includes shooters from New York and Pennsylvania along with archers from Ontario, Canada.

This special event is held in conjunction with the regular 3-D shoot. Registration will be held from noon-4 p.m. July 29 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 30.

The winners of each class receive the prestigious ASA State championship belt buckle. Plaques are given to the second-place finishers

Shooters aren’t required to compete both days. The tournament consists of 30 McKenzie life-size animal targets set to the yardage guidelines of the ASA.

Unique to this event is that the ASA speed limit will not be enforced nor is membership into the ASA required.

A $25 entry fee is required to compete and a meal is included. Archers wishing to shoot the club shoot will be required to pay the usual cost of $12.

The Bear Lake Rod & Gun Club has been improving the club’s grounds and clubhouse the past five years. This event is the culmination of the hard work of the membership and dedication to shooting sports offered by the club.

The public is invited to observe novice to professional level 3-D archers compete at this event. Food and beverages are available.

The club is located at 4391 Stockton-Cassadaga Road in Stockton.
