HAMMETT, Pa. – The RUSH Touring Series will visit Eriez Speedway today for a $1,200-to-win event, the first RUSH Touring event at Eriez of two scheduled this season.
Kyle Zimmerman, Eriez Speedway defending champion, leads the track’s championship battle after two weeks of racing and won the most recent event at the speedway. Opening-night winner Max Blair currently leads the RUSH Championship race and was the winner in the first RUSH Series Tour in 2015. Second and third place in the Eriez championship chase are Matt Latta and former champion Chad Wright. Both are expected to be at or near the from of the pack when the checkers fall at the end of the Bonnell’s Collision Center event. Scott Gurdak is currently fourth while class rookie Chris Ottaway, a former Limited Late Model champion, is fifth.
Super Late Model rookie Chad Wright scored his first ever Jay’s Auto Wrecking Super Late Model feature in the second race of the season but runs third in the standings behind opening-night winner, former champion Chris Hackett and defending champion Rob Blair. Five-time champion Rich Gardner is fourth while Darrell Bossard is fifth.
The Plyler Overhead Door E-Mods will feature Joel Watson, a many-time champion and current points leader, having won every race he has entered, both heats and feature this season at Eriez, racing against top-flight competitors Butch Southwell, currently second and trailing Watson by 83 points. Third is Mike Kinney, another 20 points behind Southwell. Steve Rex and Jack Young fill out the top five.
Former champions Ryan Scott and Chris McGuire each have a Kandy’s Gentleman’s Club Limited Late Model feature win this season and are locked in a tie for the season championship. Dan Maxim is third with Mike Moon fourth and Anthony Marotto fifth.
Jimmy Kennerknecht returned to Victory Lane on May 31 after a 10-year absence and leads the Nelson Lynwood Nursery Street Stock points chase over former champion Chris Withers and Don McGuire with Mark Thompson and Ron Boardman filling out the top five. Withers won opening night.
With his win May 31 Casey Bowers leads the Clinger E-Mod Chassis Economods standings with Eric Reinwald and Dennis Hagg second and third, respectively. Opening-night winner Josh Ferry is fourth with Ty Rhoades fifth.
Casey Burch, although winless this far in 2015, has a razor-thin one-point edge over opening-night winner Andy Proper in the Ran-Den Excavating Challenger championship battle. Ryan White is currently third with Aaron Marcy fourth and defending champion Jason Brightman fifth.
Eriez Speedway is located on Sampson Road, just off Lake Pleasant Road in the town of Hammett, Pennsylvania, 3 miles south of Interstate 90. Take Route 8 south from Interstate 90, Exit 29 and follow the signs starting in Hammett. Admission for this special event is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors, children 6-15 $6 and children under 6 are free. Fan gates open at 4:30 p.m. and pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with the first green flag shown at 6 p.m.
