Giving thanks for those who grow Lakewood’s flowers

To The Reader's Forum:

I am writing this in regard to the flowers that cover Chautauqua Avenue in Lakewood all the way from Fairmount Ave to Hartley Park. There are a number of people that deserve a thanks.

Number one is Mike from Mikes Nursery. Year after year Mike donates all the flowers that are seen planted in all the flower boxes in the main business avenue. Also the Lakewood sign area at the top of Chautauqua Avenue is full of different flowers. At Harley Park in the new flower area it is also filled with beautiful different flowers. Thank you, Mike.

To Jim at the DPW, it is always a pleasure seeing him on his blue tractor watering these flowers every day to continue to make them stand out and continue to provide the beauty. Thank you Jim.

And last but not least is the volunteers that have taken the time to plant and take daily care to also provide the beauty that we see all summer. There are both individuals and businesses that take the time to prune and shape these flowers everyday. Thank you people.

I just hope that the mayor and the trustees realize what a great asset we have in these individuals that make Lakewood the wonderful village that it is,

Thank You
