Community Helping Hands Hosts Successful Art Sale

Readers' Forum

To The Reader’s Forum:

Last weekend, the Community Helping Hands “Make An Offer” art sale fulfilled the three purposes identified by the Board of Directors: the sale reduced inventory, it reintroduced the nonprofit to the community as an organization that helps everyone and the sale provided additional revenue for this expensive time of year.

Thanking every individual would be impossible, but without a few organizations, this art sale would not have been successful. We are thankful for the publicity the Post Journal provided prior to the sale and we are so appreciative of Christ First United Methodist Church who offered Darrah Hall for the sale.

There are so many people who volunteered their time and talents to extend what CHH does on a daily basis into a different venue in a specialty sale. And the sale was only successful because of the generous response of so people who came out to purchase artwork and a special group of folks who donated special pieces for the sale. The CHH Board of Directors is continuing their efforts to “refresh” the organization in order to provide the needed services to the area.

CHH continues to help our environment by accepting wearable clothing, practical housewares and useable furniture – keeping these items out of the landfill. These items are sorted, freshened up and placed in the retail sales rooms by workers who are learning basic employment skills. Most importantly, clients who are referred to CHH by churches, other not-for-profit organizations and government agencies, receive the donated items they need. Others come to the sales rooms to buy needed and wanted items which provides a revenue stream for CHH.

The “Make An Offer” art sale provided an opportunity for the community to support the work done by Helping Hands. If you missed the sale, you may make a financial donation to CHH or come down to CHH to check out the special Christmas Room or the other sales rooms on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3 until 7:00 PM. Thank you for your continuing support of Community Helping Hands.
