Time For Republican Majority To Hold The Line

As a proud resident of New York’s 23rd Congressional District, I am writing to express my strong support for President Donald J. Trump and the Republican members of Congress who are standing firm against the Democrats’ reckless spending demands amid the current government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025. This impasse is not the fault of Republicans — it’s the direct result of House Democrats and their Senate allies refusing to negotiate in good faith on a responsible funding bill for fiscal year 2025.

President Trump has been crystal clear from day one: America cannot afford the Democrats’ bloated wish list that balloons our national debt and prioritizes pet projects over the needs of working families. His administration’s decisive actions, including freezing funds for wasteful programs in Democrat strongholds like New York, are a bold reminder that fiscal sanity must come before partisan gamesmanship. Under Trump’s leadership, we’ve seen economic growth like never before, and this shutdown is painful, all because Senate Democrats wanted to play politics. However, not giving into their outrageous demands is a necessary stand to protect the progress for future generations.

I am particularly grateful for the principled leadership of my Congressman, Nick Langworthy. As a steadfast Republican, Congressman Langworthy has been on the front lines in the House, fighting tooth and nail for a balanced budget that secures our borders, supports our veterans, and keeps essential services running without bankrupting our nation. He understands the real-world impacts on families in Western New York–from farmers in the Southern Tier to small business owners in the Finger Lakes — and he’s refusing to cave to the radical left’s demands. Langworthy’s commitment to “America First” principles echoes President Trump’s vision, and its representatives like him who are restoring integrity to Washington.

Democrats love to cry foul and play the victim, but let’s be honest: they had months to negotiate, however, they chose obstruction instead. It’s time for Speaker Johnson and the Republican majority to hold the line, just as President Trump is doing from the Oval Office. The American people elected these leaders to stand up and fight for us each and every single day and they are doing just that.

We will get through this shutdown stronger, with a government that works for the people — by the people. God bless President Trump, Congressman Langworthy, and the Republican team holding the line for all of us.

Sincerely,

Madison Messina
