Enjoy Lakewood’s Trees While They’re Still Here

When driving down Fairmount Avenue in Lakewood from Shadyside Avenue to the western village line, now is the time to enjoy all of the trees that enhance the beauty of one of the primary corridors in Lakewood.
Please enjoy them now as in a couple of years many of them will possibly be gone. Ellen and Nancy from the Lakewood Village Board took the time to speak to the residents and businesses along Fairmount and almost every one of them said that they totally preferred the trees and their current front yards, but the remaining members of the Lakewood Village Board and New York State DOT would prefer to see them removed and replaced with sidewalks. Would the state think differently if the Lakewood board voted no to sidewalks?
I know it is early but caucuses will soon be here and then the election of board members in November. Do you as Lakewood residents vote for board members who do what their constituents want or do you vote for board members who do what the county and state want. In the end please get out and vote and use it wisely and use it to vote for the person who cares about you.
