State Gun Laws Infringe Too Much On Law-Abiding Citizens

To The Reader’s Forum:

This is an open letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

I just read the list of where,we, the honest, hardworking, taxpaying citizens of New York state, with pistol permits are not allowed to carry handguns. Permit holders are not the problem. Look up the statistics of offenses of the thousands of permit holders for proof.

These places, on the list are exactly the places that we need to be able to protect ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and other defenseless folks. You are telling me, an 85-year-old woman, my husband, a 92-year-old man, who was a special deputy sheriff for 54 years, the preacher down the street, the businessman across the road, the factory worker next door, the school teacher, the doctor, the judge and all the hard-working people, we cannot carry a handgun, that we bought legally and registered according to the law, outside of our homes.

Criminals are already flocking to New York state because of the no bail and the easy and early out of jail policies. Did you consider how happy you just made the criminals in New York state? The ones who never obey the laws, will now have free reign and a safe haven to rob and murder innocent people, knowing they will not be armed and the police are busy and far away.
