Adding A Few Pieces Of Information

To The Reader’s Forum:

I would like to add a few pieces of information to the article about the Chautauqua Institution that appeared in the March 23, 2020, edition of this publication.

As stated in the article, most of the Institution gates as well as many of the offices and the library are closed. However, the main gate remains accessible and you are able to drive or walk in.

Also, the United States Post Office located within the Institution in Bestor Plaza remains open and is providing all services normally offered in our daily operations.

The office lobby is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Monday to Friday for retrieval of mail from Post Office Boxes. The retail window is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

We are also still processing passport applications, by appointment only. You can call 716-357-3275 or go on-line at USPS.com to schedule. This office also provides photo services for passports.

USPS is practicing CDC recommendations for safety which includes cleaning surfaces properly and practicing social distancing with employees and customers.

Laurie Lindquist,

Postmaster
