Be Respectful And Socially Distance

To The Reader’s Forum:

During this difficult time we all should remember to respect and care for others. This is written after a shopping trip to Wegmans. We went at 8:30 am trying to avoid a crowd since we are senior adults.

There were more people than expected but you could still manage the 6 foot distancing if you tried. It was obvious many people didn’t try or even think about it as they rushed by. Others were very courteous as we tried to be. The shelves were ridiculously empty for being 8:30 am.

When we went to check out there were lines everywhere. We stood in line trying to stay 6 feet away from people around us. Unfortunately, a couple behind didn’t feel the same way. The woman coughed a couple times so I moved away. As we put our groceries on conveyor she stood right behind me and looked me straight in the face so I asked that she please move 6 feet back. Of course, after a few words were spoken they made a big scene out of it, including my spouse being pushed in the back while trying to pay for our groceries.

We all need to respect and be kind to each other. No one wants to get this virus, especially senior citizens, so please understand when people want you to adhere to social distancing.
