If You Support Racist Sayings, You’re Racist

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream that his children and all of America would measure the quality of a person by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin or their religion.

Today we are witnessing a President who feels that the color of one’s skin and one’s religious affiliation are more important than the conduct of their character. What is equally worse is that we have a political party who refuses to measure the conduct and character of the President out of fear that they may not get reelected.

The transitive property of equality in Geometry states that if A=B, and B=C then A=C. Today in our political climate we have a President who makes racist comments, and a political party that is protecting the president, which then, by definition, means that the political party supporting the President must be embracing racist comments as well.

When in 2015 Sen. Lindsey Graham called Trump a racist, xenophobic bigot, but in 2019 says he is the best president ever; we have a problem, the party has a problem and our Rep. Tom Reed has a problem.

Who should I believe when it comes to defining racism, the Honorable Rep. John Lewis, a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom for fighting racism, or Tom Reed?

Let’s be honest here, Trump makes racist comments, and the party will not call him out for it, and remains silent on the issue while continuing to support him. When the party and Tom Reed support Trump they support racist comments as well, it is clear and simple.

Either you celebrate the fulfillment of the American Dream by recognizing that Ilhan Omar is a refugee who became a US Representative, or you, for racist and bigoted reasons, say the American Dream is dead and are willing to promote the slogan “send her back” for political gain!

There is no alternative to the transitive property of equality, if you support racist sayings you are a racist. The fact that you can’t call the President out for his immoral behavior makes you a coward, cowering under a bully, preventing you from declaring the values you hold so dear in the Declaration of Independence. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all humans (not just men) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

If we are created equal we must treat people like we want to be equally treated. If not, then we can shout “send them back!” all we want!
