Reader Asks For Whom The President Works

To the Reader’s Forum:

These are the words of Mr. Trump explaining, when he was the presumptive nominee for president, why he was dealing with Russian officials while lying about it to the American people:

“I was campaigning. There was a good chance that I wouldn’t have won, in which case I would have gotten back into the business, and why should I lose lots of opportunities?”

Let’s jigger those words just a little bit:

“I was in office for only four years. There is a good chance that I won’t get re-elected, in which case I will go back into the business, and why should I lose lots of opportunities?”

Who is the president working for, the American people or himself? What are his decisions based on, his own interests or the best interests of the nation? We need to protect the investigation of Mr. Mueller, he is doing the work that the republican Congress, and those who voted for Mr. Trump, have failed to do.
