You Should Reconsider ‘Evil’ Halloween Decorations

To The Reader’s Forum:

I love many things about autumn. I love the fresh scent in the cool air; the colorful leaves; the delicious, fresh produce; and the fun, inexpensive, natural decorations such as corn husks, pumpkins, and hay bales.

However, the evil and grotesque decorations often associated with Halloween are very depressing. Unfortunately, these unsightly Halloween decorations are being displayed more and more, not only in stores, but now in people’s yards. It seems as if we are saying that Halloween makes it okay to celebrate evil and violence. In fact, a young boy just recently told me that a picture he drew about someone cheering about another’s death was appropriate because it is Halloween time. I Thessalonians 5:22 (New King James version) says, “Abstain from every form of evil.”

I encourage people to reconsider what they are truly celebrating and promoting with their Halloween decorations that honor death, gory creatures, bloody images, and any other evil!
