More Men Are Jailed Than Women — Why Aren’t Feminists Calling ‘Sexism’?

To The Reader’s Forum:

On Sept. 24 The Post-Journal reported that the Chautauqua County jail is holding 39 women and 229 men, even though the Chautauqua County population is approximately 50 percent male and 50 percent female. Many recent reports call attention to the fact that American jails contain proportionately more black men than white men. This we are told is raw racism. The demand is heard louder and louder, more and more often, that this “inequity” must be “redressed.” When conservatives argue that black men are committing more crimes than white men, they are charged with racism and told that this kind of thinking is “oppressive” and “whiteness” and is no longer permitted. Don’t take my word for it. Ask your daughter in college. When the result is “racially disparate,” it is racism. The police just have to stop arresting so many black men.

Well, if that is racism, clearly what we see here is sexism. We can’t believe that men are more bad or more likely commit crimes than women. That is pure sexism. We are all equal. Perhaps we should even jail more women now to make up for “inequities” in the past. Call it something catchy like “affirmative action.”

One way to alleviate this “inequity” might be to convince or coerce some of the men to become women by declaration as is so often done these days. Then they can be housed with the women. Why are there different facilities anyhow? And why is there sexually segregated housing? There is no such thing as “separate but equal.” Integrate them.

I have long said you can no longer make a joke because reality is more outrageous than anything you can make up. This shall come to pass.
