Uprising Will Occur If Kavanaugh Is Confirmed

To the Reader’s Forum:

A letter appeared in this column criticizing Democrats for mistreating judge Kavanaugh, “a decent and honorable man.” Well, that’s what the hearings are to determine, isn’t it? There seems to be a lot of questions about that. We have on one side a well-educated college professor, who, according to one news report, moved from the east coast to the west coast to get as far away from him as she could, and who went through therapy for trauma shortly after the event. She would have no motive to lie, since coming forward would subject herself and her family to terrible pressure, and, as it turns out, death threats. He, on the other hand, would have every reason to lie, since an admission might well disqualify him.

A friend of mine once lived in Maryland, knows the school that Kavanaugh attended well, and described it as an alcoholic’s paradise.

Unless two or three GOP Senators step up and do the right thing, chances are he will go to the full Senate for confirmation. If he is confirmed, there well may be a general uprising.
