To the Reader’s Forum:

Republicans and the White House are continually calling the accusations against Brett Kavanaugh scurrilous and unfounded, claiming his reputation will forever be damaged.

However, the one very simple action that could refute the claims and enhance Mr. Kavanaugh’s character they refuse to do — have the FBI investigate. At best, some evidence disproving the allegation could be uncovered and their claims of this being a political attack justified. If, as with Anita Hill and very likely in this case, the FBI determines the allegation unfounded they could rightfully say they respectfully listened to Dr. Ford, took the actions available to them, and voted with the knowledge of doing all that was possible to uncover the truth.

At worst, at least for them, facts might be uncovered that corroborated the allegation and grievous wrong avoided.

Why aren’t they doing that? Women on every political side need to ask what do they know and why is there such a rush to get him confirmed?
