Reader Turned Off By Kneeling Protests
The Reader’s Forum:
I like football. I really like football. But I can’t condone all the nonsense about the “kneeling,” folding arms and hiding in the tunnels.
I’ve been really turned off. I understand the right to protest, but the sports arenas where well-paid athletes are getting enormous salaries playing a game is not the right place. Pledging allegiance to the flag is showing respect and honoring our country and the military who protect these playboys and the police who try to keep our cities safe to live in — black or white.
This country has people of all races in politics, law enforcement, military, entertainment, etc. I believe in peaceful demonstrations, but when troublemakers are brought in to start fires and cause destruction and riots nothing is accomplished but bad feelings.
