Donations Were Greatly Appreciated

To The Reader’s Forum:

We would like to take this time to thank so many people who came to the “Aid for Puerto Rico” collection and donated in so many ways. The collection, which ran from September 25th to the 28th, could not have been a success without the generosity of the Jamestown area people and businesses in addition to the media who supported our collection through coverage and advertisements.

In the three days we were able to collect over 550 cases of water and 150 boxes of supplies and clothing. As a result we filled a 30-foot by 24-foot box truck of items. The donation went from Jamestown to Dunkirk and coordinated delivery along with supplies from Buffalo, Dunkirk and Olean, N.Y., to Puerto Rico. At the time of the collection many of us had not heard from family members and were anxious to help out our native country as best we could. Since then we have managed to hear from them and it brings great pleasure to know we have helped them a little through this devastation.

In addition to thanking all who donated an item or more, we would like to thank the following organizations and businesses who allowed this to be a success.

¯ Brigiotta’s Farmland Produce & Garden Center, Inc. for the use of the trucks/drivers

¯ Pepsi Cola, Inc. of Jamestown for the large donation of water

¯ The Jamestown Professional Fire Fighters Morton Club for the use of the facility

¯ The entire group of volunteers who helped collect, pack and load the donations.

Thank you to everyone for coming to the aid of Puerto Rico in their tremendous time of need. We truly appreciate it more than you know.
