Reader Believes Town Hall Meetings Were Disruptive
To The Reader’s Forum:
I am writing to thank Deann Nelson for her well-written thoughts on the behavior of certain people at the recent town halls.
I am in total agreement (as are many others I’ve spoken with) that this is uncalled for, inappropriate, and unproductive. The people who shout and chant and disrupt are not earning themselves any sympathy or respect. (It must drive the liberals nuts that we conservatives are able to complete our sentences in these letters to the editor — how do they shout over that?)
A big thank you to Mark, also, for taking the time to write a letter demonstrating the typical liberal response to Deann’s opinion. First, he tried to deflect from the topic by criticizing a petty and irrelevant point — a misspelled word (gasp!) Then proceeded to make three such mistakes himself: two misspelled words and the wrong date referencing Deann’s letter. I’m sure he’ll say that it was the publication that made these mistakes, but since he didn’t give Deann the benefit of the doubt, he doesn’t get it either.
Then he gloats over the hold put on the health care replacement vote. This is actually our government at work and a good thing. Unlike the original Obamacare vote, where Obama used good old Chicago-style mafia tactics to shove his mess through, the current Congress held discussions and had disagreements and finally decided that it needed to be reviewed and done right for the sake of the American people. Good for them!
And finally, Mark gets to the point of Deann’s letter and completely gets it wrong. She said nothing about denying the obnoxious people a chance to speak, just that they were not allowing others the courtesy of free speech. So, Mark, write as many letters as you want and use as many exclamation points as you need to express your “shouting”, but you won’t drown us out. You are only energizing us to speak up more.
