Reader Says Coverage Of Trump Shows Bias

To The Reader’s Forum:

The Post-Journal is to be commended for not being an outlet for the seditious propaganda organs, the Washington Post and the New York Times. “Sedition: incitement to resistance and insurrection against lawful authority” — Webster’s Dictionary, 9th Collegiate.

Again and again the mainstream media outdoes itself with non-reporting, petty trivia, vindictive maliciousness, slander, and sedition. People who want to know what really happened have to go to the source. For instance, the recent press conference held by Donald Trump can be understood in the real world by going to whitehouse.gov and hearing for oneself, not via the interpretations of the politicized press.

Trump outlined essential issues: the enforcement of Constitutionally guaranteed laws to insure security at home in a time of increasing terrorism, expanded job opportunities through important infrastructure rebuilding and industrial growth, attention to veterans and support for law enforcement, improvements in education and health care, pursuit of reliable, affordable energy, and bilateral trade deals that may halt the destruction of the American economy. And, in the face of ongoing sabotage, President Trump stood by his policy of diminishing hostility toward Russia. Was any of this reported?

We had different standards many years ago when I worked at the Chicago Tribune for two decades. There were columnists like Mike Royko who gave their opinions. Then there were reporters who covered the news without opinion and commentary. That is basic journalistic responsibility. Now, many reporters are virtually opinionated columnists. The press has become so unaccountable, irresponsible, loathsome, hate-filled and unprofessional that their obstructionism and attempts to undermine the workings of government is, by definition, sedition.
