Mike’s Legacy Lives On
To The Reader’s Forum:
I had the privilege of knowing and working with Mike Felice when he was with Trend Broadcasting (WKSN and WHUG) and I served first as editor and then publisher of The Post-Journal (1976-1997).
Although some may have viewed us as competitors — which we were in one sense — that was not the essence of our relationahip. Mike was one of the most personable and respected professionals I have known. He was a man of character, someone who cared deeply about the community and especially about the well-being of individuals who struggled with life. His work with The Resource Center was well-known.
As I was reading Mike’s obituary, I found myself feeling a sense of challenge. The list of Mike’s contributions in support of a better life for others is lengthy. It made me wonder what others might say about my own life in retrospect. And, in reflecting, I felt an urging to consider what kinds of things I could and should be doing with whatever time remains in my own journey.
So, even in death, Mike’s legacy lives on. His is a good example to emulate. A decent, loving, caring man who translated his own feelings and passions into actions. What a gift to us all.
