CLCS Realizes The Value Of Joining Together
To The Reader’s Forum:
Recently, there was an article in one of our three county newspapers that applauded the tuition agreement between Chautauqua Lake and Ripley schools.
When it comes to making any “personal” changes among our schools, both sides of the aisle have something to say about it for and against.
This time, those opposed worried about a long ride on a bus for students; teachers who taught for a few years didn’t like having the students taken from them before graduation; “dissatisfied” parents joined the negative side of the plan.
After the vote by both sides approved the plan, emotion, doubting and dissatisfaction hung around.
Now, three years later, it appears that the two districts are making plans for the future plans for all aspects of what can be ahead for Chautauqua Lake and Ripley schools because now everyone is pleased with the concept.
That said, I do have to remind readers of a long-ago Mayville-Chautauqua merger.
Despite the fact that mergers are more difficult for adults than for students to accept and that it took two votes, the merger happened.
Although Ripley is a tuition, not a merger, Chautauqua Lake appears to be the only school in Chautauqua County to have realized the value of “joining together.” Kudos for Chautauqua Lake Central School!
Oops, almost forgot to tell you: The kids love it!
