Federal Gun Control Law Needed In Place Of SAFE Act

To The Reader’s Forum:

The Post-Journal editorial on the flaws of the Safe Act points out graphically what many of us have been crying in the wilderness for years about, in increasing anguish. And that is that we need a federal gun control law – reasonable and effective.

Unless all of the states work in concert, there will always be the option for gun traffic between the states. The reason we can’t get one, besides the obvious power of the NRA, is because there is a strong gun culture in this country. This is not a Second Amendment issue. This is about changing the way we as a country think about guns – a cultural change.

I wonder sometimes how the leaders of the NRA can get up in the morning and look at themselves in the mirror after a bloody night of carnage. They have blood on their hands, and I wonder if they feel any remorse. They ought to.
