Resident Changes Mind About City Council
To The Readers’ Forum:
Ever since I started active participation in the business of Jamestown city government, I have been very critical of all the City Council officials, including the president of the council, Dr. Greg Rabb.
But the article that referenced him and after reading his speech about Islam, I changed my mind. In a hick town like this you have to be extremely careful to speak about any other religion other than Christianity and Judaism. I used to belong to the Roman Catholic Church, all my life except the last four to six years for reasons I don’t want to go into here. But I do not have the same affection or leanings toward Christianity.
I grew up in India and finished my education, including my law school, there. I went to school with and was best of friends with Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Zoroastrians (or Parsis) and even Singhs, even at that time what they used to call Dalits or untouchables. As in this country, we did not see or feel any difference because of their color, language or religious beliefs. They were all friends, one happy family of young people learning so they can get ahead.
So I want to say I apologize for my meanness. You are one beautiful human being and thank you for your opinion.
