Is A Fence The Real Issue For St. Susan Center

Not everyone is in favor of all aspects of the St. Susan Center’s move from Water Street to downtown Jamestown. Zoning Board of Appeals members met recently to discuss a zoning variance requested by the center that would allow the center to locate refrigeration units closer to the property line of the former Jamestown Business College property than is included in the city’s code. Recent news that the court-disputed sale of the Hotel Lenhart is, we hope, a good development for the village of Bemus Point and those who look forward each summer to spending lazy summer evenings on the iconic rocking chairs of the venerable lakefront hotel. The Hotel Lenhart has has been a major fixture on Chautauqua Lake since the summer of 1882, when the hotel opened. For the second time in less than a decade, one of downtown Jamestown’s tentpole events finds itself on the brink of extinction. Impromptu Iglesias Visit Brings Excitement To Comedy Center

It was a little surprising to drive by the National Comedy Center late on a Monday night and see a public visit by famed comedian Gabriel Iglesias being advertised. Sure enough, comedy center officials made a public announcement the next day that Iglesias, who has performed in Jamestown as a National Comedy Center Lucille Ball Comedy Festival headliner and contributed items to the center, would indeed be making another donation and, to the delight of hundreds of city residents, be part of a meet-and-greet at the comedy center. Clymer, Sherman and Panama residents won’t necessarily be watching for results of their school budget votes next week.
