If Continuum Of Care Program Remains It Could Help County

Chautauqua County Homeless Coalition officials think they’ve found a way to bring additional efforts to the county’s attempts to lessen the number of homeless. The coalition is poised to ask Chautauqua Opportunities board members to approve an application to join the Balance of State Continuum of Care, a federally funded program offered through the state Office of Temporary Disability Assistance that would open Chautauqua County up to funding for an array of programs. Fly Car Program’s Financial Health Is Good News For Rural Residents

For the first time in its history, Chautauqua County’s Fly Car program is running in the black. The change in the program’s financial health is due in part to increased revenues as county officials and its billing partner have done a better job of capturing money owed for services as well as a realistic 2025 budget that increased up-front county spending rather than simply planning on a late-year budget adjustment to pay the fly car program’s costs. Frewsburg Food Pantry Request May Be The First Of Many

Food pantries struggling to make ends meet isn’t necessarily new. But the Frewsburg Community Food Pantry’s recent request for help from the town of Carroll is something we haven’t seen in recent years. Baby Food Testing Proposal Is A Good Idea

There should be, in our opinion, general approval among state lawmakers that there should be more testing of the baby food parents find on store shelves. The federal Food and Drug Administration earlier this year set new, lower maximum levels for lead in baby foods like jarred fruits and vegetables, yogurts and dry cereal, part of an effort to cut young kids’ exposure to the toxic metal that causes developmental and neurological problems. The agency issued final guidance that it estimated could reduce lead exposure from processed baby foods by about 20% to 30%. The limits are ...
