Church Demonstrates Wonderful Generosity – But Let’s Not Stop Giving Yet

If we had them to give, we’d give Sam Ognibene 40,000 thumbs up for his work spearheading an effort that led to 40,000 pounds of food to the St. Susan Center.

Ognibene is no stranger to taking part in causes and events that help others, but his efforts to help secure the donation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – of which he is an integral part locally – was made in commemoration of the St. Susan Center’s 40th anniversary and comes at a time when food providers are seeing increased need. We’re not surprised that the St. Susan Center is sharing the donation with other agencies. Frankly, we’d expect nothing less of either Ognibene or the St. Susan Center’s leadership.

Those moved to do something to help can do just that on a smaller scale by contributing to the Cents for St. Susan Campaign. Canisters have been placed throughout the area by the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities, which coordinates the annual drive. Becky Robbins, BPU communications coordinator and coordinator of the Cents for St. Susan campaign, has set a goal of $32,000 for this year’s campaign.

What Sam Ognibene and his church did is extraordinary. Those who contribute to the Cents for St. Susan Campaign are no less extraordinary.
